Calibrate Your Iman
From the Heart
It wasn’t long ago that we ushered in the 1,434th Islamic new year. And now here we are, already anticipating Ramadan. Time sure flies when you’re having fun – we hope you’re having that kind of year.
In our relentless efforts towards attaining a self-actualised existence, we may sometimes confuse material goods to be of substance to our souls; they say shopping can be therapeutic for this very reason. But that kind of superficiality is not going to resonate with our spirit in the long-term. That’s why we love Yasmin Mogahed who shows us a way towards a life of real, timeless meaning using the messages of Islam, delicately. Amal Awad chats with the acclaimed author and speaker in From the Heart.
A blessed part of Ramadan is sahur, the pre-fasting meal. If, like me, you are not quite a pre-dawn chef, then Sahur Salvations by Afia R Fitriati might be just what you need to ready yourself for those long days of fasting. And in our fourth annual feature of our readers’ thoughts and traditions of the holy month, we present Ramadan Around the World 2013. In this time of reflection, we feel blessed to be able to spread the word of Islam and share the lifestyles of Muslims today, for practising and non-practising Muslims alike, as well as our non-Muslim friends and family.
It is worth remembering that we will always have ways to do better. With that comforting thought in mind, I’d like to take this moment to say ‘thank you’ from our entire team to all our readers for allowing Aquila Style to be a part of your life.
Wishing every one of you a blessed Ramadan!
